Financial Controller

Location Yreka, California
About Us StarWalker Organic Farms is transforming the food system from the soil up. As the nation's first Regenerative Organic Certified™ producer of both beef and pork, we are a vertically integrated, mission-driven company rooted in Northern California. With operations spanning land stewardship, farming, USDA processing, and a growing consumer brand, we're committed to producing the most nutrient-dense, ethically raised, and environmentally regenerative proteins in the country.
Position Summary We're looking for a seasoned, hands-on Financial Controller who thrives in a purpose-driven environment. This person will lead financial operations across our four key entities—Land, Farm, Processing, and Brand. The ideal candidate will be both analytical and strategic, excited to bring precision to our books while supporting a business that's scaling nationally with a powerful mission.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) across four entities.
  • Own and lead month-end and year-end close processes with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Strengthen internal controls and compliance with GAAP.
  • Identify and implement process improvements across financial operations.
  • Manage and optimize accounting systems—QuickBooks proficiency preferred.
  • Support payroll, tax compliance, and regulatory filings.
  • Handle treasury activities, bank relationships, and debt financing.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to support strategic decisions.
  • Mentor and manage accounting team members as we grow.
  • Anticipate and manage financial and operational risks proactively.
Qualifications
  • 8–10+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a Controller or equivalent leadership role.
  • Experience managing multi-entity operations.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, payroll, internal controls, and treasury management.
  • Skilled in QuickBooks and other financial systems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for regenerative agriculture, sustainability, or mission-driven work.
